White Bull Summits (http://www.whitebull.com), champions of European innovation, today announced the winners of the 2015 Bully Awards, honoring outstanding technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) companies.

There is innovation happening, blurring the line in the sand between social and commerce. Hybrids each with their own unique spin: Piccing (my company) with a global membership of 75 million lets you buy what you “picc” in an image or something like it...

Piccing surpasses rows at 800% YoY rate

Piccing said it has surpassed a milestone of more than 50 million members.

Piccing enables consumers to “picc” an image, picc up to five items within the image, comparison shop piccs in real-time, and buy their piccs directly online.

The Piccing platform has grown from six million members in January 2014 to more than 50 million members in just one year, a growth rate of more than 800 percent year-on-year. Piccing members have also picced and curated hundreds of millions of items, generating nearly 250 million click-outs. The Piccing Android app is available for download on Google Play for smartphones running Android 4.0 or higher.

How Piccing Is Gaining Momentum in the Social Shopping Race

Every week, it seems as though there's a new leader in the race to nail social shopping. This week, Piccing made another play for the lead, announcing that it has reached 50 million members—way up from the 6 million members it had in January 2014— in addition to launching the Piccing app for Android. Piccing lets app users "picc" an image to shop, and view comparison items located by the tech behind the platform. The startup reports over 250 million "click outs" to major e-retailers likes ShopBop and Zappos.

Social shopping app Piccing picks up $3.6M

Several ventures, including Google, Pinterest, Amazon’s Firefly, Slyce, even Wanelo, are all working on getting to this spot, where users see something they like, post it, and then, buy it. Buying it is where the money is, of course, and it may be just a matter of smoothing out the technology and perfecting the usability to get everyone there.

Piccing, the Zurich-headquartered ‘social-shopping’ platform, has secured new funding. It’s raised a $3.62 million Series A round from undisclosed investors — money it will use to fuel its international launch, which kicked off earlier this week.

The company’s web and iOS app lets users upload or bookmark images — the latter, Pinterest-style — wherein they can add up to five hotspots tied to items found in each image, thereby helping to make those images ‘shoppable’. Or another way to think of it is as a form of curation, with users encouraged to categorise and share images.
